CTK Announces $300,000 Donation Initiative For Small Nonprofits:
A Response to the Economic Downturn
Austin, TX, October 21, 2008 (http://apricot.info ) — In a tight economy, nonprofit organizations are squeezed on both sides. Most nonprofits rely on corporate donations and interest income from endowments for funding – dollars that evaporate as the stock market goes south. At precisely the same time, more people need assistance as unemployment rises, foreclosures become more numerous and families experience credit rejections, high food prices and flat wages.
During this volatile period, nonprofits must compete with one another for every donated dollar; they are continually called upon to prove their worth. Nonprofits that are unable to demonstrate they make a difference will have a difficult time keeping up.
As a response to this deepening recession, and in recognition of the important role nonprofits fill in helping those that need it most, Community TechKnowledge (CTK) has stepped forward to make a donation of Apricot™ to 100 small nonprofits, valued at $300,000. Apricot, CTK’s newest software, is designed specifically for the small nonprofit – quite often the very organizations that fill the gaps in critical services for our local communities.
“As a former nonprofit executive, I am keenly aware of the difficulties many nonprofits are experiencing in keeping the lights on, the staff paid and the doors open to folks that need their help,” said Kathryn Engelhardt-Cronk, founder and CEO of CTK. “Apricot is the information management tool that nonprofits need to tell their story and stay mission focused. We at CTK are fortunate to be in a position to donate our online software to assist 100 nonprofits in the U.S.”
Registered 501©(3) organizations with annual budgets under $1 million can go to www.apricot.info/softwaredonation by June 30, 2009 to request a donated 2-year license for Apricot. CTK will select 100 small nonprofits to receive the donated software, as well as provide them with training to set up and use the software.
